ACCREDITED TRAINING PROVIDER FOR TRANSPORT SAFETY VICTORIA

COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides participants with the knowledge of Waterway Rules, Awareness of Boating Safety, Safe use of Waterways, Relevant Local Knowledge, Carry out Trip Preparation, Safely Operate a Mechanically Powered Vessel and Respond to Boating Emergencies & Incidents in Coastal, Enclosed & Inland Waters.

Types of Marine Licence to Operate Powered Recreational Vessels Include:
• General Marine Licence – For persons over 16 years of age.
• Restricted Marine Licence – For persons over the age of 12 but under 16
• Personal Watercraft Endorsed Marine Licence – For persons wishing to operate a PWC (over 16 years of age)

ELIGIBILITY
There are eligibility requirements for this course, details are available in form F0059, if you have not received a copy of this form please contact our office and request one.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• You must be a minimum of 16 years of age to obtain a PWC licence (Jet Ski)
• If you are under 16 years of age you will need your parent or legal guardian to sign the enrolment form on the day of training.
Please ensure this is completed or you will be unable to commence the course.
• You must understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe operation of a powered recreational vessel. If you have reading or writing difficulties please advise the trainer so they may assist you throughout the course.
• You must supply on the day original documents Evidence of Identity (see form F0059 for further details) Failure to supply sufficient EOI will result in not being able to commence the course.
• Wear comfortable and practical clothing and enclosed footwear, tea & coffee is provided
• Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training.

PAYMENT & TRADING TERMS
This course requires full payment prior to the course commencement date. Applicants will be required to provide payment at the time of the booking. Facilities include Credit Card, EFTPOS or Cash. Cheques are accepted 1 week in advance of the course.

TRAINING / ASSESSMENT & REASSESSMENT
Training is conducted in a classroom group environment and includes a powerpoint presentation and theory training. A question and answer session will be conducted at the completion of each section. Face to Face training will be under the guidance of one of 1 Stop Driving School’s experienced and qualified trainers.

On completion of training, you will be required to complete a knowledge-multiple choice written assessment or verbal assessment for those that may have difficulties with reading and writing. The Recreational Boating Operator Licence (RBOL) test consists of 30 questions to pass you must successfully answer 26 questions. The Personal Watercraft (PWC) test consists of 15 questions to pass you must successfully answer 13 questions.

Note: a PWC endorsement may not be issued as a stand-alone licence. If an endorsement is required, a marine licence must first be obtained.

Reassessment – Where a participant is not successful in attaining the required number of correct questions they may be given the option to attempt a different version of the test. This may be attempted immediately following the first attempt. Where an applicant is not successful on the second attempt they may not attempt the test again on the same day.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSING
This course is the first step towards obtaining your Recreational Boating Operator Licence. Successful participants will be provided with a Certificate of Attainment for Marine Licence Training. You will then be required to take the Certificate along with the appropriate Evidence of Identity to a VicRoads office. New applicants will be required to read an eyesight chart to test their vision. A fee is payable to VicRoads for the marine licence and any endorsement. If you do not present your certificate to VicRoads within the valid period on the certificate you will have to take the test again at a cost to you. All applicants will be required to meet the health requirements for operating a powered recreational marine vessel and may require further testing. Contact VicRoads for further information.

CANCELLATION & WITHDRAWALS
In the event of cancellation or withdrawal from this course, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is mandatory. 10% of the course fee will be retained by 1 Stop Driving School for administration fees, the remainder of the course fee will be returned to the original payer. Dependent upon circumstances students may be offered an alternative date for training. There is no charge for a student to transfer to an alternative date, provided 24 hours’ notice has been provided. In the event 1 Stop Driving School is not notified of the cancellation and the student does not attend training, the full course fee will be applicable, as a course position had been held. In the event 1 Stop Driving School cancel the training course and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.
